PULASKI, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee Southern baseball team split games two and three with #8 Georgia Gwinnett on Saturday. UTS dominated game two winning 6-4 and dropped game three to the defending NAIA champs 13-5.
GAME TWO
- Lance Pope and Coleman Siniard led the way with two hits each. Pope and Hayden Wright each homered for UTS. Derrick Junker added a two-bagger.
- UTS drew two free passes while striking out six times.
- The Firehawks left eight men on base.
- Nathan Curtis took the win in a gem of a performance. Curtis threw six innings holding the Grizzlies to four runs on four hits. He cut down 10 GGC batters on strikes. Curtis improved to 2-2 on the year.
- Drew Bailey picked up his 2nd save of the year closing the door in the seventh.
GAME THREE
- UTS combined for six runs on 10 hits. Brantley Holden, Pope, and Michael Wurtz each had two hits. Blaine Harris, Wright, Collin Huntley, Wurtz, and Janzen Powell each added a hit.
- The Firehawks left seven on base.
- Logan Parrott fell to 2-2 on the season.
NEXT UP
UTS will travel to Henderson, Tenn. for a three-game set with #20 Freed-Hardeman. The Firehawks and Lions will meet for a single game on Friday, April 8th at 5 pm.
