Chargers Charge Past Firehawks

Pulaski, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee Southern Baseball fell to NCAA DII opponent Alabama-Huntsville 12-7 on Wednesday.

FIREHAWK FACTS

  • Camden Angell and Hayden Wright led the way for the Firehawks both with two hits. Nick Davis, Lance Pope, Will Clemons, and Janzen Powell each added a hit.
  • UTS drew two free passes but struck out 14 times.
  • The Firehawks left Seven runners on the basepaths.
  • Wright and Clemmons both blasted homers. Wright hit a grand slam and Clemmons hit a solo shot.
  • UTS pitched by committee today. Logan Parrott got the start. Parrott allowed four runs in two innings of work. Cody Edwards took the loss falling to 0-1. Edwards game up four earned runs in one inning. Cody Womble threw the fourth and fifth. Womble held the Chargers to two earned runs. Josh Simmons worked the next two innings. Simmons gave up 2 earned runs. Sam Bowling hurled a scoreless eighth. Drew Bailey finished out the ninth inning affair throwing a scoreless ninth.

NUMBERS GAME

  2 - UTS hit two doubles in the game. Pope and Wright went back-to-back in the second inning.

  5 – Wright led the way with five RBI. Four came in the third via a grand slam.

  9 – Firehawk pitching fanned nine Chargers.

NEXT UP

UTS will host Thomas More at Bobby Walker Field on March 19th and 20th. The Firehawks and Saints will do battle at 1 pm on Saturday and noon on Sunday.
