Firehawks Split With Bears

Pikeville, Ky. – The University of Tennessee Southern baseball team split the series with Pikeville on Friday. In game one the Bears outlasted the Firehawks 5-4 in seven, but UTS returned the favor in game two besting UPIKE 5-1. Tomorrow's game has been canceled due to the weather.

  • The Firehawks outhit the Bears six to four. Coleman Siniard led the way with two hits. Camden Angell, Wurtz, Wright, and Blake Birdsong each had a hit.
  • Wright and Siniard led the way with two RBI. Birdsong added one as well.
  • UTS drew three free passes and struck out 10 times.
  • The Firehawks stranded five on base.
  • Nathan Curtis threw a complete game in the winning effort. He allowed one earned run on four hits and struck out nine. Curtis improved to 1-2 on the season.

UTS will host Alabama-Huntsville on Wednesday night at 6 pm.
