Pulaski, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee Southern baseball team opened their season today falling in a pair with St. Ambrose. The Bees held on to take game one 9-7 and jumped out early to take game two 18-4.
Game One
- Brantley Holden, Nick Davis, Michael Wurtz Lance Pope, Janzen Powell, and Will Clemons combined for UTS' eight hits.
- Powell launched a Firehawk homerun.
- UTS drew two free passes, while striking out eight times.
- The Firehawks left seven men on base.
- Nathan Curtis fell to 0-1 on the season. He allowed four hits and five earned runs in three innings pitched.
- Trey Lacy finished game one allowing four earned runs on seven base knocks.
Game Two
- UTS produced four runs on six hits. Pope had two hits; both were round trippers.
- Pope led the way with three RBI.
- Trey Lacy dropped his first decision of the season. He gave up six earned runs on seven hits in two innings of work.
NEXT UP
UTS will conclude the four-game series with St. Ambrose at Bobby Walker field on February 12th. The Firehawks and Bees will do battle at noon with game two to follow.
