Bio

As a RedHawk

- 1965-1966: Attended Martin Methodist College; Member of the tennis team; Wrote for the school newspaper; Member of the M Club; Served on SCA Cabinet.

After Graduation

- 1967-1968: Member of the Belmont University tennis team; Worked Part-time for the Tennessean.

- 1969-1970: Served in the U.S. Army, including a 1969 tour of duty in Vietnam as a Combat Infantryman with the 199th Light Infantry Brigade.

- 1970-2001: Larry Woody returned to the Tennessean sports department and over the years have covered high schools, the Ohio Valley Conference, the Southeastern Conference, Vanderbilt, the NFL and NASCAR racing. Larry Woody has covered numerous Super Bowls, Kentucky Derbies, NCAA Tournaments, College Football Bowl games, Daytona 500's and a Muhammad Ali Heavy Weight fight.

- Currently, he is the Tennessean's motor sports writer and general sports Columnist, and three time winner of the Tennessee Sportswriter of the Year Award. Author of three books and contributes a monthly column to NASCAR Illustrated. Larry is a contributing writer to several national sports publications and co-hosts two weekly racing radio programs in Nashville.
